BLUFF WHARF THEFTS ALLEGED

INVERCARGILL, Nov. 16. , William John McCulloch, a fish cleaner, of Stewart Island,.and Robert Douglas Hanning, a fisherman, of Bluff, appeared in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr IT. J. Thompson, and Mr C. V. Holder, Justices of the Peace, jointly charged with thefts from the wharf at Bluff. They were charged with stealing four carcasses of lamb, valued at £6, the property of the Ocean Beach Freezing Company, from the wharf on November 11, and three crates of cheese, of a total value of £26 2s, the property of Southland Cool Stores. The accused pleaded not guilty and were committed for trial to the Suoreme Court, bail being allowed in each case in the sum of £lOO, with two sureties of £5O each.
