CYCLING Greymouth Club’s Meeting
The Greymouth Cycling Club held its first track meeting for the season on Saturday. There was a good attendance, of senior riders. The finishes were keenly contested. J. Hutchings showed form to win the halimile final, while E. Patterson won the mile senior, and did not appeal to be troubled with an injured knee. B. Wilson was the most successful of the boys, winning the half-mile junior, and being placed second in two other, races. The track was holding after rain earlier m the day and consequently times were slow, but the track surface was in good order. Results:— Half-time senior: First heat—K. Armstrong (60yds)' 1, K. Thomas (80) 2 T. Egan (15) 3, P. Egan (60) 4- time Imin. 10 2-ssec. There were ten starters. Second heat—K Sutherland (30) 1, J- Hutchings (60) 2, H Sutherland (scr.) 3, M. Bergamini (10) 4; time 1.10 2-5. There were ten starters. Final—Hutchings 1, Armstrong 2, K. Sutherland 3; time 1.8 2-5. One mile senior: E. Patterson (40) 1 A. King -(80) 2, J. Alexander (70) 3’: time 2min, 20 1-5 sec. There were nineteen starters. One mile senior points race: E. Maguigan and H. Sutherland, spts, equal 1; A. King and M. Bergamini Ipt. equal 3. Time 2.24. Half-mile junior: B. Wilson (100) 1. E. Patterson (scr) 2, J. Mclntyre (50) 3; time 1.12. There were ten starters. Half-mile boys’ race: J. Mclntyre (25) 1. B. Wilson (50) 2. D. Boot (scr) 3. Time 1.14 4-5. Eight starters. One mile hack race: D. Ogilvie (50) 1, B. Wilson (80) 2, K. Morgan (20) 3; time 2.27.
