BRITISH LABOUR WINS ANOTHER BY-ELECTION
(Rec. 7.10). LONDON, November 13. A by-election was held on Saturday in London for the Edmonton seat in the House of Commons. It resultsd: —* Mr Austen Albu (Labour) .. 26,164 Mr Edwin Hubbard (Con.) .. 22,837 The by-election was caused by the death of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, Mr Evan Durbin, who was drowned while on a holiday in Cornwall. . There was ,a three-cornered election for the Edmonton seat in 1945 at the general election. The majority then was 19,069.
