TORNADO AT NEW PLYMOUTH

P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH. Nov. 14. Damage to property was done by a tornado that cut a narrow swathe through part of Fitzroy, a suburb of New Plymouth, on Saturday night. Sweeping in from the sea, the tornado lifted a garage in Richmond Street and deposited it nearly one hundred yards along the street, and also rippeg the.roof off a caravan. in Newton Street, about a quarter of the roof of the house of Mr R. Guildford was torn off, and was deposited on the lawn of a house in a parallel street. A piece of a rafter pierced the side of the house of Mrs R. W. McKcJ.zie, and broke an iron bath. Damage was also done to the front of Mrs McKenzie’s house, and to the? roof of Mr A. West’s house; irf'which two windows were broken. The storm was accompanied by heavy rain, and it passed over in a few minutes.
