EVE OF ROYAL BIRTH SEES CROWD OUTSIDE PALACE
(Rec. 9.30). LONDON, Nov. 14 The gynaecologist, Sir William Gillian. decided to remain last night at Buckingham Palace, occupying the room that previously had' been made in readiness for him. Another doctor who will be in attendance at the birth of Princess Elizabeth’s baby is Sir John Weir. He was not called to the Palace. Reuter says: This indicated that Sir Wm. Gilliatt’s decision to stay on was in the nature of a precautionary measure. The general health of the Princess is excellent. The Home Secretary, Mr Chuter Ede, left the list of 4 his week-end movements with the Court Post Office, so as to be available at any time for a phone call from Sir Alan Lascelles, His Majesty’s private secretary, acquainting him with the Royal birth. A crowd gathered outside Buckingham Palace early on Saturday afternoon, waiting for news and they remained throughout the evening, out the crowd had melted away by midnight. Birth Expected To-day (Rec. 7.30). LONDON, November 14. The birth of Princess Elizabeth’s baby is now not expected until either Sunday or Monday. Princess Elizabeth spent Saturday morning quietly at Buckingham Palace. She continued her usual routine, which includes a walk in the Palace gardens. The gynaecologist, Sir William Gilliatt, visited her on Saturday evening at the Palace. He remained for some time. Then he left, but he returned after 10 p.m. G.M.T. The Daily Mirror says that water from the River J i.’dan will be flown to Britain for the baby’s christening.
