No Television for Australia Yet
(Rec. 10.0). SYDNEY, October 11. Australia would not have television until it could get the highest possible standard of relay, said Mr Lionel Hooke, managing director of Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia), Ltd., who returned from abroad by the Aorangi to-day. He added that it was a costly business to change a fixed standard, and that television studios in the United States still lost, money on their programmes. More experimental work would |-_/7e to be done overseas before a fixed standard could be decided upon for Australian television.
