£1800 Egg Fraud Admitted by Men at Timaru

P.A. TIMARU, October 11. An amended plea of guilty was offered by Thomas Ewert Gill, proprietor of the Timaru Egg Floor, and Reginald Tong, an accountant, of Christchurch, when they appeared before Mr Justice Fleming in the Supreme Court to-day. They had pleaded not guilty in the Lower Court to charges of conspiring with each other, by deceit, to defraud the Government of £lB6l 3s 4d, representing the subsidy on a fictitious supply of eggs. The prisoners were remanded for sentence till Wednesday.
