Encouragement For Harewood Airport
CHRISTCHURCH, Oct 7.
“It seems that the Government is at last beginning to recognise the claims of Harewood,” said the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr E. H. Andrews) when commenting on the provision of £38,000 for the development of that aerodrome. Mr Andrews said he had no' indication of how it was intended to spend the money. . “We have been encouraged in the last week or so,” he continued. Sir Frederick Tymms, leader of the British civil aviation mission, has openly expressed his approval of Harewood as the site for an' overseas air terminal for the South Island. His opinion must have weight. The provision in the estimates indicates realisation of needs. It tas also' been encouraging to note that some North Island Members of Parliament suppoid our claims.”
