Auckland Dispute on Unloading of Wheat

P.A. AUCKLAND, October 1. The discharge of the “Aldington Court” bulk wheat cargo is proceeding though the watersiders still refuse overtime. It is understood that the vessel will be worked to-morrow-morning. Saturday, employment until noon is not regarded as overtime. Conditions under which bulk wheat cargoes and other “dusty’ freights are handled by lorry drivers will be discussed by the Auckland Drivers’ Union at the monthly meeting on Tuesday night. The union will also consider the holding of a postal ballot among its members in the northern industrial district on the question of compulsory peacetime military service.
