(Rec. 7.50) LONDON, Sept. 18 The Royal Air Force would soon have jet bombers, said the Under-Sec-retary for Air, Mr De Freitas. “Our experts set about designing an entirely new bomber to do full justice to the speed of the jet engine. This called for a solution of special problems involved in suddenly doubling the bombers’ speed. Despite this, two and four-engined jet bombers were on the way." BRITISH FORCES LONDON, Sept. 18 The Foreign Secretary. Mr Bevin, the Service Ministers and the Chiefs of Staff held a meeting at the Foreign Office and examined the foreign situation in relation to the Government’s plans for rearamament and the slowing down of demobilisation.
