One Hundred British Warships Being Reconditioned

(Rec. 9.50) LONDON, Sept. 18. Twenty-six destroyers and frigates, which have been-laid up at Portsmouth for periods up to three years, are to be brought forward for refit, says the Sunday Times naval correspondent.

They constitute one-third of the ships in the reserve fleet. A similar number of ships are likely to be brought forward at Devonport and Chatham.

Altogether, about one hundred ships are to be reconditioned by the end of the financial year.
