Sydney Trams Crush Lorry in Collision

(Rec. 9.5) SYDNEY, Sept. 19. A man was killed and 25 persons were injured when two trams and a lorry were involved in a collision in North Sydney last ffight. Another man, who was one of three occupants of the lorry, is not expected to live. The lorry and tram collided and then the lorry, rebounding, was caught between the tram and another tram proceeding in the opposite direction along parallel lines. The lorry was twisted into a mass of tangled steel and woodwork between the trams. Police and civilians worked for an hour to release the trapped occupants from the cab. The open smoking compartments of one tram were smashed to matchwood.
