Linesman Electrocuted

WAIPUKURAU, Sept. 6. An employee of the Central Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board was electrocuted while working on the 11.000-volt distribution line at Takapau this morning. He was Bryan Francis Bishop, aged 21 years, single of Waipukarau. . WOMAN CHARGED WITH ABANDONING BABY AUCKLAND, Sept. 6. A two-weeks-old baby was found abandoned on the steps of a house in Beresford street at 10 o’clock on Saturday night, wrapped in clean clothing and, a shawl. It had not suffered from exposure. To-day Ngatai Maaka, aged 26, a Maori domestic, was remanded until Monday on a charge of abandoning her child. The police- said the child was born in the Salvation. Army’s Bethany Home and was abandoned the day after the mother’s discharge from hospital.
