OVER 179 HOURS OF SUNSHINE IN AUGUST
With 179.6 hours of sunshine recorded in Greymouth for August, the first of the spring months has been unusually mild. In comparison, Christchurch had only 152 hours of sunshine up to Monday. This is one of the highest totals Greymouth has experienced in any August. Rainfall was average, the total on 15 days being 7.40 inches. The highest fall of 2.21 inches on August 25 considerably added to the month’s total.
