Former Czech Minister Escapes To London
LONDON, Aug. 29. Dr. Peter Zenki, a former Deputy Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia, arrived in London from Paris to-day. He said “The last six months were worse for me and mv wife than my six years in the Buchenwald concentration camp.” Dr. Zenki, who' is going to the United States in a fortnight’s time, added: ‘'‘Since the Communist coup, my life has been in danger all tne time.” Dr. Zenki said he came to Britain to help to free Czechoslovakia from the Communists. He was in tears with the warm recepton otheir Czech refugees gave him. He disclosed part of the scheme which led to his escape on August 7. “With my wife and two watchers — I was always watched—l visited my brother’s grave,” -he said. “We were all nut into a motor-lorry and blindfolded. Less than four hours later we were in the American zone and safe. We could not see who saved us. They would be partisans, of course.”
