WAIKATO COAL MINERS’ STRIKE
AUCKLAND, August 29 A vote was taken on Friday at the Waikato coal mines, which are still working. It showed a large majority favourable to ending the strike at the Macdonald, Glen Afton, and Pukemiro Collieries, and referring the matter to the Local Disputes Committee, there is no change in the attitude of the sti’ikei’S Prospects of a resumption on Monday seem remote. A meeting of strike coYnmittees from the three idle mines was held at Huntly this morning but no developments were reported and no week-end meetings have been arranged.
