SUB-DIVISION OF FARMS FOR EX-SERVICEMEN ON WEST COAST

The State, to date, had acquired two farms on the West Coast for subdivision for ex-servicemen, said the Commissioner, of Crown Lands, Mr H. P. Lawrey, yesterday. He added that further properties are under consideration. One property was known as Whitcombes, at Kokatahi, and comprised 400 to 500 acres, which was being sub.ided into three separate dairj farms. The land had not been takeup by the men available owing to a delay in completing the building. The properties would be allocated when the buildings were completed, said Mr Lawrey. The other property consisted of 2600 acres, formerly owned by Mr G. Drayton. Sub-division was proceeding, but no decision had been made whether the property will be used for dairying or grazing.
