New Radio Station To Operate This Year At Kumara Junction

A third building is in the course of erection, beside the road between Kumara Junction and the Taramakau bridge, for the new Westland radio station, 3YZ, two other structures laving been brought there and reerected some months ago. One of the latter, a converted army hospital building, has been converted into a transmitter house. The reconstruction of a similar type of building, for staff quarters is nearing completion. A fourth structure, for other mechanism, is partly finished. It is expected that the new station, 3YZ, will be on the air in about three months. The installation of the new equipment is now in progress. Power will be drawn from the Grey Power Board’s system. The station studios in Greymouth are the subject of tenders and it is expected that finality will be reached within a week.
