DISABLED SHIP AT NEW PLYMOUTH

P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, June 3. The propeller shaft tunnel of the Turnbull Shipping Company’s 503uton motor vessel Eastgate, which bumped aground, after her engines had failed on entering New Plymouth harbour on Monday, is now slowly flooding, and the bulk-head door has been closed. No - pumping has been done so far, but a pump, additional to the ship’s own pumping gear has been taken aboard.

A New Plymouth firm has repair materials ready, but, until more H known about the damaged plates; it is not known how repairs will be effected.

The ship was examined by the New Plymouth Harbour Board’s diver.
