No Fresh Developments in Mountpark Issue

AUCKLAND, June 2. No fresh developments occurred to-day in the waterfront dispute which has now held the wheat ship Mountpark idle for a week. Concern at the apparent inactivity of the Waterfront Industry Commission was expressed by representatives of the employers and the union. The Mountpark is under Government charter, and the taxpayer is being charged directly for the delay. It is understood that the Mountpark is on time charter at a little less than £5OO a day. In addition, the Government has to pay port and stevedoring charges. The Mountpark has a cargo o. 19,000 bags of fowl wheat. Poultrykeepers’ supplies have been on a hand-to-mouth basis, and they have not had sufficient wheat for some time. Their position will become considerably worse if the dispute is not ended.
