Pigs Maintain Values P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. The store sheen entry at Addington to-day was 3,285/ comprising 1,065 lambs, 2,105 ewes and 115 wethers. The lamb entry was not of a particularly good quality, but the demand was keen at prices up to Is better. The top price was 35s for a| truck of Romney-cross ewe lambs. A truck of fine-woolled ewe lambs made 33s 3d. The best ones made 32s to 355; good 28s to 31s; medium 24s to 28s. Others were down to 18s. Good Breeding Ewes Several first-class lines of breeding ewes attracted strong competition in the adult ewe section. The top price was 36s 6d for a truck lot of six and eight-tooth Romneys from Bank’s Peninsula. The best made 32s to 36s 3d; medium 24s to 30s; ordinary 19s to 235. Five lines of two-tooth ewes were offered and 46s was paid. A good truck of Romney-cross wethers made to 425. Fat Lambs The fat lamb entry was 2170, and the quality was good. Butchers’ lambs were about Is dearer, and others about 2s above the schedule values. Extra prime fat lambs made to 64s 7d; prime 45s to 50s; good 39s to 445; medium 32s to 375; light 24s to 31s. Fat Sheep Up In Price In the fat sheep entry of 4,750. some high quality wethers were offered. The demand was strong throughout, with good cutting wethers and ewes about 5s dearer, and heavier sorts up 4s. The values of extra prime heavy wethers went _to 74s Id; prime heavy 58s to 645; prime medium-weight 52s to 575; ordinary 45s to 50s; light and unfinished 38s to 435. Prime heavy ewes made to 46s 7d, prime 35s to 41s;,medium 30s to 345; ordinary 26s to 295; light and unfinished 20s to 245. Indifferent Cattle The fat cattle entry was 408. The quality was indifferent. For two or three pens of choice steers, competition was strong at improved values. The prices for the remainder of the offering were barely up to last week. The best beef made to. 57s 6d per 1001 b., with one or two sales at 60s; good 45s to 52s 6d; Medium 37s 6d to 42s 6d; best cow to 42s 6d; secondary to 37s 6d.

Values were: —Extra prime heavy sfeers up to £3O 17s 6d; prime heavy £2O to £22; prime medium-weight £l7 to £l9: ordinary and light £l4 to £l6 10s. Extra prime heifers sold up to £l7 12s 6d; prime £ll to £l5; ordinary and light £8 to £lO. Extra prime cows made to £lB 12s 6d; prime £9 to £l2; ordinary and light £6 10s to £8 10s. Strong Sale For Pigs .

The porker yarding was of medium size and the sale was excellent at last week’s good prices. Choppers were in over supply and values were £2' to £3 easier.

The bacon, yarding was again small, and prices were fully on a par with last week’s values. Light porkers made £3 14s 6d to £3 19s 6d medium £4 3s 6d to £4 14s 6d; heavy £4 19s 6d to £5 9s 6d; choopers £4 Is to' £9 Is; light baconers £5 14s 6d to £6 Is 6d; medium £6 3s 6d to £6 8s 6d; heavy £6~lls 6d to £6 19s 6d; extra heavy £7 2s 6d to £7 9s 6d. The average price per lb. was lOd to 103 d.
