Bayonets at 2s May Appeal to Boys
WELLINGTON, May 31. Concern is being expressed by some parents at bayonets being ori sale in Wellington shops at 2s each. The bayonets, with scabbards, were surplus army stores, and were sold by public tender. They are old type, but are in good condition, and the points are still sharp. Comment by parents that the bayonets should not be sold unrestrictedly. thus enabling small boys to purchase them, were referred to a police officer, who said that bayonets did not come under the Arms Act. They were not firearms or explosives, and, therefore, there was no control over them.
