Watersiders’ Charges Against Union Coy. to be Heard To-day
AUCKLAND, May 30. The New Zealand Waters.-de Workers’ Union has definitely been denied the opportunity to test in Court the legality of the dismissals of watersiders during the first phase of the Mountpark dispute, in March. This means, in effect, that there is no appeal against the decisions of the' Waterfront Industry Commission. The Government has supported this ruling of the commission. The National president of the union to-day. He added that a decision was communicated to the union last week when the Government offered to, set up a tribunal to settle the present dispute which is holding up th unloading . of Australian wheat from the Mountpark. The Court action sought by the union, to test the legality of dismissals is a separate issue from the case to be heard in the Magistrate s. Court at Auckland on Monday in which the union will allege that some of its members were locked out during the current dispute.
