MAY DAY TO BE CELEBRATED AT DUNEDIN RALLY
Exceptional interest is developing over the arrangements made by the Dunedin May Day Celebration • Committee for observing the occasion between the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Labour and the New Zealand Labour Party. Guest speakers representing the industrial and the political Labour movements are being invited to address a meeting in the Dunedin Town Hall on Sunday night, . May 2. The committee has invited Mr H. Barnes, of Auckland, the national president of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union to appear as the industrial speaker and Mr Barnes has replied that he will be very pleased to address the assembly, adding that he did not yet know the identity of the ’■'olitical spokesman. In the Wellington Labour movement there are suggestions that a political representative may be invited from the highest Governmental level. The formal invitation from the Dunedin May Day Committee states that the meeting is to be a fitting celebration of' the occasion. It will permit political and industrial speakers to place before the audience the significance of May Day and the need for the solidarity of the working class movement.
