REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent) REEFTON, April 12

On Friday evening some eighty guests were entertained at a party in the bandroom given by Mr and Mrs W. Mackie in honour of the coming of age of their daughter, Rhoda. The tables were beautifully spread. Mr C. Coxall acted as Master of Ceremonies. After the usual toast were honoured, Mr Mackie presented his daughter with the cusomary gold key. Miss Mackie thanked her parents and all who helped to make the function such a happy one. Mrs Kidd provided the music and dancing, games and items kept the party lively. A highlight of the evening was an item given by the Snake Gully Choir. The party came to a close in the early hours with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne." Miss Cara Hall a well known pianist. who has just recently returned from England, gave a recital at the Reefton District High School on Friday afternoon. lv wag very much appreciated by all who were present. At Auckland, the death has occurred of a former resident'of Reef ton. Mr Jack White ,aged 69. Born at Blackspoint, the late Mr White, aged 69. Born at Blackspoint, the late Mr White, had, before his departure for the North Island some years ago, worked in a number of mines in the Reefton district. He was a member of the Inangahua Silver Band and an active, member of the Wesley Church. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Auld, of Reefton.
