America to Retain War Industrial Plants

(Rec. 9.0) WASHINGTON, April 8 The White House to-day directed the War Assets Administration to defer the final disposition of all unsold industrial plants, machine tools, and production equipment in these plants. Mr John Steelman, the Presidential Assistant, sent, the request after consulting the Secretary of Defence, Mr James Forrestal and officials of the National Security Resources Board, the Munitions Board and the War Assets Administration. The Munitions Board has imposed national security restrictions_on more than 150 plants considered' most important to the national defence.
