U.S. TO INCREASE MERCHANT NAVY
(Rec. 9.0) WASHINGTON, April 8 The Navy Secretary, Mr John Sullivan. told the House Merchant Marine Committee to-day that President Truman would ask Congress to increase the merchant ship construction funds from 395 hundred thousand dollars to one hundred million dollars for the year beginning on Julv 1. Mr Sullivan said the decision was made in the light of flip world situation and was supported by the armed services.
