MYSTERY OF YOUNG WAIROA MAN’S DISAPPEARANCE
P.A. WAIROA. April 2. The police are investigating the disappearance of a young rnan, Rowland Phillips, aged 20, who was last seen at his parents’ residence, near Frasertown, on Wednesday night. Phillips is a son of Mr and Mrs Len Phillips. He apparently left home wearing working clothes and an oilskin coat, but it is not known if he wore a hat. ’
On Wednesday night, he put four gallons of petrol in a car, but the car was not taken when he disappeared. Phillips, who was nearing the completion of his apprenticeship, sat for an examination as an electrician a fortnight ago, and the result of same appeared to be worrying him. He is a very popular young man, and, apart from the examination result, there was nothing to cause him any worrv.
The police ai'p disturbed as to what has become of him. Despite the fact that, an intense investigation has been made, even to searching long stretches of the river, there is no sign of the missing man. and at present his whereabouts must remain a mystery.
