ENFIELD MURDER CHARGE
P.A. DUNEDIN, Feb. ,3 Considerable interest was shown in the trial to-day of Phyllis Freeman, aged 33, of Oamaru, who faces charges of murder of Joyce Maysie Morrison at Enfield on October 3, 1942, and of attempted murder of Ina May Pearce, at Enfield, on May 23, 1942. Mr Jus f ice Kennedy presided, the case for the Crown being conducted by Mr F. B. Adams (Crown prosecutor) with whom is associated Mr W. H. Carson.
Mr J. E. Farrell, of Oamaru. is counsel for the defence, with him, Mr M. C. Gresson. of Timaru. It is expected the hearing will occupy a week.
To-day’s evidence followed the lines of that given in the Lower Court hearing.
