REEFTON NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent]

REEFTON, September 22. An accident happened in the gravel pit near Crushington yesterday afternoon to two men employed by the Public Works Department, Messrs J. Collis and Norman Woods. They were working below a face of gravel when the top came away, striking them on the head and shoulders. Collis was the greater sufferer as he received the fall heavily on his head. Woods was slightly hurt, suffering from shock principally. Collis was taken to the hospital, and to-day his condition was reported as greatly improved, he being able to leave the hospital. A basketbal match Reefton District High School Old Girls’ Club v. Rollerston House Boys played in the Gymnasium Hall last evening, resulted in a win for the Old Girls by 10 goals to eight. The game was strenuously contested and created considerable excitement, but the combination of the Old Girls was the deciding factor.
