GREYMOUTH J.C.

ANNUAL RFPORT. The following annual report and statement of accounts will be- presented at the annual meeting of the Greymouth Jockey Club, to be held on October 1:—

Your Committee has pleasure in presenting the annual report and statement of accounts for the year ended June 30, 1937, and in doing so congratulates the Club on a very successful year both from a racing and financial point of view. Three race meetings were held during the year, and notwithstanding adverse weather conditions, particularly at midsummer, when a postponement was rendered necessary, a profit was shown from each meeting, the nett profit for the year amounting to £572 ss. The farming operations were again successful, and contributed considerably to the satisfactory financial result. Grandstand: Satisfactory financial arrangements enabled the Committee to complete the grandstand to replace the one destroyed by fire in 1932. The total cost of the new stand was £3,361 4s 3d, but seating accommodation has yet to be provided. The New Zealand Racing Conte;- ‘ ence has again granted the Club ah extra day’s permit for June, 1938, and judging by the success that attended the last Winter meeting, the Club should again benefit financially by the extra day’s racing.
