Lyons, in the House of Representatives. to-day declared that payable oil had not been discovered in Dutch New Guinea, nor in the Commonwealth. Mandated Territory. Mr Lyons’s statement was made in reply to a suggestion by a Labour member, Mr Ward, on Saturday last that the Government had suppressed a discovery of oil in New Guinea and that it had also given information of a discovery to a private company, which had' recently begun operations on the Stock Exchange.
