Cross Country Race NORTHERN MAN’S VICTORY. [Per Press Association). TIMARU, September 11. Setting a hot pace from the start, and covering the six and a quarter miles course in good style to finish with something in reserve,. C. Weller (West Coast, North Island) claimed his second New Zealand cross country championship at Timaru to-day. Otago fielded a strong team and regained the team's championship, last year’s winners Auckland being second. A good open course was selected for the event but a fairly strong northeasterly wind made (he going hard. The event created a great, deal of interest by reason of Hie fact that the championship had not been held here for a period of 28 years. Weller was accorded a great reception at the finishing line al Caroline Bay, the second man A. R. Geddes (Otago.) being 250 yards away. There was a gap of 40 yards to Logan (Otago) who was third.
