We have been again visited by floods similar in severity and extent to the last. The rains on Friday and Saturday morning fell in torrents, embracing a circular belt across the colony, from Coleraine in the west, through Ballarat, Maryborough, Castlemaine, Beechworth, to Wood's Point in the north-east. Melbourne had only heavy rain. At Coleraine ten lives were lost, and several people were drowned in different parts, numbering altogether about twenty. The crops and fences suffered severely at the same places. The races are likely again to be postponed. The weather has now cleared, but is still very threatening. Markets have scarcely altered since last telegrams. Supples trial broke down through the jury disagreeing. Parliament was opened on Thursday, Mr Mitchell was elected President. The estimates are to be prepared for only a portion of the year.
