Tarawa, Hagley, commander, arrived from Melbourne at seven o'clock last evening, after a five days and one hour's passage. She left Sandrtfge Pier at 4p.m. on the 31st ultimo. On the 3rd instant she was hove-to for eleven hours, during a very heavy southerly gale, the sea running high. During the latter part of the trip, she had strong winds and thick, dirty weather. She brings 25 saloon and 32 steerage passengers, and 310 tons of cargo for all ports. Passenger List— Mr H. Gawler, Mr Turner, Mrs Turner, Master Turner, Mr Pyne, Mr Biirdett, Miss Mary Mason, Mrs James Jeffery, Mr Thos. Fergus, Mr Neil and children and two 3ervants, Mr A. Dunning, Miss Dunning, Mr Dixon, Mr Doley, Mr Saunders, Mr W. S. Neil, Mr Mitchell, Miss Roger, Mr Davies, Miss Johnson, Mrs Colonel Matson, Miss Matson, and 32 in the steerage. Melbourne, Oct. 31. We have been again visited by floods similar in severity and extent to the last. The rains on Friday and Saturday morning fell in torrents, embracing a circular belt across the colony, from Coleraine in the west, through Ballarat, Maryborough, Castlemaine, Beechworth, to Wood's Point in the north-east. Melbourne had only heavy rain. At Coleraine ten lives were lost, and several people were drowned in different parts, numbering altogether about twenty. The crops and fences suffered severely at the same places. The races are likely again to be postponed. The weather has now cleared, but is still very threatening. Markets have scarcely altered since last telegrams. Supples trial broke down through the jury disagreeing. Parliament was opened on Thursday, Mr Mitchell was elected President. The estimates are to be prepared for only a portion of the year.
