Friday, March sth.

•(Before W. H. Revell, M. Keogh, and J. Greenwood, Esqs.) Maggie and Lizzie Rice, two children of tender years, were charged under the Vagrant Act of having no visible means of support, and ordered to be taken care of until their mother had ■completed the six days' sentence of iaiprisonment that she was adjudged yesterday. Catherine Hood was charged with exposing spirituous liquors for sale in a house in Arney street, the same not being duly licensed. Mr Sub-Inspector James appeared for the prosecution, and Mr Perkins for the defence. Before the evidence for the prosecution was entered into, Mr Perkins applied for an adjournment, in order to secure the attendance of Mr Hoos as a witness for the defence, he being in his capacity as County Chairman the grantor of the permission to sell as charged in th.6 information. Mr Revell said the Bench had been at some pains to secure a full attendance of Justices, and that, should the application for postponement be acceded to, the probability was that there would not be so many present on Monday. He did not care about hearing the case alone, and had endeavored to get others to sit along with him, whose attendance would not bo had if an adjournment took place. Mr Perkins, in reply, urged that he* was informed that Messrs Lapham, Harrison, and Whitefoord could then be present, / and that as the case would most probably be determined upon a point of law, it was, most desirable that the presence of as many Justices aa possible should be secured. Eventually, after a consultation, the Bench agreed to the proposed adjournment to Monday, in order to secure the attendance of Mr Hoos. (Before W. H. Revell, Esq., R.M.) CIVIL CASE. Graham v.
