AUCKLAND v. WELLINGTON
This Day
The cricket match Auckland v Wellington, commenced at 12.15 to-day. The weather was fine with a light southerly breeze, and a good wicket was prepared. Wellington won the toss and elected to go in. Brown and Alpa being the first men. With the score at 13, Brown skied one ol Gill’s, which was taken by Dufaur the wicket-keeper. 1—7—13. Heenan followed, and after scoring 2 was caught by Gill off his own bowling. 2 —2—20. Firth, the captain, was the next man, but, after a dozen had been added, Alpe played one of Lankham’s back to him, and had to retire—3—2o—32. Lynch was the next man. With 40 up Lankham changed to the north end, and relieved Gill, Buckland taking the south end. The change was successful, for in Lankham’s second over. Lynch, in playing back, hit his wickets—4—l1 —55. The team then adjourned for lunch. Later.

AUCKLAND v PATEA. PATEA, December 8,
The match Auckland v Patea yesterday concluded with an easy victory for the local team. Auckland collapsed suddenly, the last five wickets falling without any addition to the score. Auckland—lst innings, 40; 2nd, 45. Patea, Ist innings, 50; and 2nd, 47, with six wickets to fall. A return match will bo played to-day. N.B.—This team is a second Auckland team.
The match between the Elevens of Lancaster Park Eeserve and the U.C.C., announced to take place on Hagley Park Ground, will be played on Lancaster Park instead. Play will commence at 2.30 sharp. Thef olio wing will play for the U nited Kailway C.C. in their match against the U.C.C. third eleven on Saturday next at 2.30: — McGregor, Foster, Woledge, Eound, Jones, Turner, Banks, Griffiths, Frazer, T. Wilson, Beverly; emergencies, Knight, Chapman, Firth.
