The Customs duties collected at Christ church on Thursday, November 23rd, were as follows:—Spirits, .£164 14s lOd; toTmcco, .£B2 8s 6d; wine, .£2l Is ; sugar, .£231 6s 2d; goods by weight, .£lO3 6s 4d; ad valorem, .£l5O 15s ; other duties, .£9l Hs7d. Total, £845 3s sd.
Mr Charles Clark reports for the week ■ending Thursday, November 23rd —He held an auction sale at his rooms on Tuesday last of various properties. The rfirst lot on the list was a section on the Whateley road, on which Messrs Allen and Son formerly carried on business as sawmillers. Owing to a legal question the premises were not submitted to auction, nor was the saw-milling plant for the like Teason. A very small section of land and ■cottage at Knightstown were then offered and sold at .£122 10s. Following this was a «ottage in George street, which was quitted at .£175. Next came a small section on the Edgeware road, St. Albans, sold for £B3 10s. A cottage in St. Asaph street East ~was then offered, which also found a purchaser at .£260. A section and cottage at Bingsland was offered, and withdrawn, but an offer is now under consideration.
Mr Clark reports the sale privately, and on Saturday last, of a property near the Racecourse sold for .£I4OO cash. Also, of a property near Wilson's bridge, Opawa, for .£2OOO. Total sales for the week, .£4041.
Yesterday, at his rooms, Hereford street, lie sold all the sporting effects, linen, and hooks belonging to the late Colonel Packe. There was a capital attendance and good -quick bidding continued throughout the sale. COEN EXCHANGE. The following is the report for the week ■ending Friday evening, the 24th inst. : Business in the grain trade during the week has been only of a nominal character, with little or no alteration to record in values. Wheat —Prime milling quality, holders are asking from 4s 4d to 4s Gd per bushel, -with but few inquiries; second quality, 3s lOd to 4s ; screenings and chick wheat, 3s 3d to 3s 7d. Oats Local demand continues fairly Rood, with no change to report in values. For good short milling a slight advance may be recorded,: feed quality, 3s 3d to 3s 44. Barley—There is no inquiry at present for malting; feed quality, 3s 4d to 3s Cd per hushel. Potatoes —No business doing, prices Jiominal. Cheese and Butter—The former, old Bd, :new Gd ; the latter 8d to Sid per lb. COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Wellington, November 24.
