The Loan Redemption Bill was finally passed by the Legislative Assembly last night.
Isaac Ogle, a clerk in the employ of Mr Duffett, solicitor, of Melbourne, who was arrested in England in June last, has been committed for trial here for embezzlement. The failure is announced of Levin, Goldberg Bros, and Co., of this city. The firm’s liabilities are set down at £65,000.
Messrs Goldshorough and Co. report that at their wool sales yesterday 5000 hales were catalogued and 4100 sold. The prices realised were satisfactory. The highest figure for greasy was Is 5Jd, and for scoured 2s OJd. OUR NEW GOVERNOR. ADELAIDE, Fovember 23, It has transpired that Sir William Jervois has received a telegram from Lord Kimberley offering him the Governorship of New Zealand, and that Sir William has replied accepting the position.
