The sale was continued on Thursday, when there was again a large number of buyers present, and the prices realised for the various lots submitted wore very satisfactory, as will be seen by the subjoined list: —

The above comprised as fine a lot of draught mares and fillies and draught geldings as one could possibly wish to see brought together. As they were being rounded up and driven into the stock yards they presented a grand spectacle, and it was a sight that will long be remembeied by the large number of people present during the afternoon. Prom the above list it will be seen that good prices were realised, the top figure being 70gs, paid by Mr J. Stark for a seven-year-old mare by Lincolnshire Traveller out of Grey Jess. The three-year-old unbroken draught fillies realised from .£ll up to £3l, and the draught three-year-old unbroken colts from £lO 10s up to £25. The draught two-year-old fillies fetched from £5 up to majority realising over £l2 each. The draught two-year-old colts brought prices varying from £ll up to £lB, and the one-year-old draught fillies wore sold from £5 5s up to £27 10s. Nine one-year-old draught colts up in one lino were sold at £ll each, and the remainder were sold at £lO and £ll a-head. The three-year-old unbroken hack fillies, with one exception, were sold to outside buyers at prices varying from £l2 up to £26. The competition was keen, as was also the bidding for the three-year-old hack colts, all of which brought good prices, the pick of the mob going at £SO. The two-year-old hack fillies and hack colts found ready purchasers, and were disposed • of at good prices, varying from £6 up to £2O, the great majority being bought for removal from the Longbeach estate. A line of 27 one-year-old hack fillies were bought by Mr Grigg at £5 5s a head, and a line of 17 one-year-old hack colts also went in one lot, the purchaser being Mr Grigg. The total of the sale for the day was a little over £6500, and the total realised up to Thursday night amounts to £32,324 7s 3d. FRIDAY’S SALE. The attendance at the sale on Friday was not so large as on the previous day. The auction commenced at 10 a.m. with the hack geldings, which were disposed of at prices ranging from sgs up to 41gs, the latter price being paid for a fine grey horse. Cock Robin. The dray hack mares were also disposed of, the prices ranging from Ggs up to 24gs and 25gs. The pick of the lot, however, was a splendid bay trotting mare. Young Tiny. She was started at 30gs, and by some very spirited bidding was quickly run up to OOgs, at which sum she was knocked down to the bid of Mr J. T. Matson. The hack brood mares brought from 7gs up to 20gs. The draught entires Lord Beaconsfiold and Premier were sold to Mr J. Grigg, the former at 130 gs, and the latter at 55gs. The thoroughbred entires Digby Grand and Cataract wore both sold to Mr J. Grigg at lOOgs and 40gs respectively. There were very few buyers for the hack brood mares, the majority of which were bought at prices ranging from sgs up to 20gs. thoroughbred entires.
