The following horses have paid the second forfeit for the Melbourne Cup :—Darebm, Lord Burghley, Savanaka, First Water, Ounnamulla, The Drummer, Pollio, Segenhoo, Sensation, Baronet, Sweet William, The Assyrian, Navigator, Gudarz, Santa Olaue, Lord Lisgar, Odd Trick, Jessie, Stookwell, Sting, Boolka, Guesswork, Sylvanue, Promotheus,|Flying Jib, Mistaken, King of the Vale, Standard Bearer, Belmont, Essex, Brunette, Little Jaok, Oalma, The Queen, His Boyal Highness. Mr Souse's horse Sting has been purchased by Mr J. Miller for 3000 guineas.
Beceived Ootober 25th, 1 a.m. The latest betting on the Melbourne Cap is as followa :—Sting, 100 to 12 ; Little Jock, 100 to 12 $ Sweet William, 12 to 1; Oannamullo, 100 to 8; Boolka, 100 to 8; Bavant.ka, 100 to 6 ; Navigator, 100 to 4 ; Sylvanue, 100 to 4; Belmont, 100 to 4; Drummer, 100 to 1. Sensation has been scratohed for the Cup. Thirty-five horses now remain in. The latest betting on the C. J.O. Derby is as follows:—Navigator, 7 to 4; Ssgenhce, 4 to 1 j Guesswork, Bto 1, Boolka, 10 to 1.

Gibe training ground at Flemington presented ft more animated appearance than Uiual this morning. Heavy rain fell before daylight, but it oleared off, and Savanaka and Prometheus went twice round in splendid style, the former finishing very strong. Fryingpan went round twice in a determined manner, and Ounnamulla and Baionara had a spin together in good style. The former is much fancied. Segenhoe h«ts made the best time yet on.the tan, doing the round in lmin 64ieo. Buwarrow met with sn accident on Friday. Hecla and Ouetswork are improving their position in the Derby bett'ng. Received, October 25th, 1 45 p.m. MELBOURNE, Ootober 25. The weather still continues all that oould be desired for training purposes, and the Derby candidates are well forward in their preparation. Seeenbo is firm in the market; 100 to 30 is offered, and 100 to 25 has been taken. About Navigator 7 to 4 is offered and 2 to 1 taken. Guesswork is quoted at 100 to 12 (off). Against anything else the edds run from 20 to 1 to 10 to 1.
For the Gap Sting has risen to 100 to 18 (taken). Sweet William, Ounnamulla and Little Jack, 100 to 10 (taken) ; Savanaka, 100 to 12 (taken), 100 to 10 (offered) j Mistaken, 100 to 4 (taken). The bets taken on Savanaka and Mistaken are in thousands. A rumor is current that Sting has been sold to Miller, the bookmaker and sweep promoter, for £3OOO. Thore is great exoitement about this, as Sting has been very heavily backed for the Oup.
