MINISTERIAL MOVEMENTS.

LBt Telegbaph.J [pbom oub oobbebpondbht.J WELLINGTON, Ostober.l9. The Premier and family left by the Stella this evening for Auckland via Taranaki and Manukan. I understand that the decision which was arrived at a week or two ago, and duly telegraphed by me, to the effect that Mr Whitaker’s absence from the seat of Government is to be a short one, still remains in force, and it is expected that the Premier will return to Wellington some time next month, The Colonial Treasurer also took his departure per the Stella for New Plymouth, where he will land en route for his Taranaki home. Major Atkinson’s trip is, I believe, purely one of a holiday character, which had become absolutely necessary to his regaining health, after the exhausting work of the session. The Colonial Secretary has decided to go South on Monday next by the Botorua. Mr Dick intend* inspecting the industrial schools, hospitals, benevolent institutions, and lunatic asylums, as he did in tho North Island, with a view to recommending, if possible, improvements in tba management in the direction both of economy and of greater efficiency. The Minister of Public Works goes up country to-morrow on a short absence from town, returning next week. Mr Walter Johnston will probably visit the South early in November, Mr Bolleston and Mr Connolly will be Ministers in charge during the next week or two.
