Mr G. P. Pierce, manager of the New Zraland Insurance Company, was totally da. stroyed by fire at three o'clock this morning. The block comprised five shops, three of which were occupied, by Messrs J. Bold, cabinet maker, Boyle, fruiterer, and Burni, The fire originated in Reid’s, who is at present in Waikato. The steamer Marsala sails for London via Java this evening, with upwards of 8000 frozen sheep. The annual horse parade held at Porbury Park to-day has proved a groat success. There are upwards of seventy entries. At the City Court this morning, Isabella Young was committed for trial on a charge of stabbing.
