[bbuteb’b sblbgbaub.] MELBOURNE, August 26. Arrived Orient steamship Sorata, from London (July 16th). Burns, who was remanded to Hamilton, charged with the mnrder of Michael Quinlivan in 1880, has been brought up for trial but haa been farther remanded. SYDNEY, August 27. The steamship Gunga arrived here today from Fiji, and has been quarantined. Sir Arthur Gordon’s native attendant, who is a passenger, is suffering from what is believed to be smallpox. Sir Arthur Gordon is also a passenger by the Gunga. August 26. At the Hawkesbnry Racing Club’s meeting to-day the Mares Produce Stakes was won by Hecla, Hastings, 2; Eva, 3. The Grand Handicap resulted as follows:—Sting, 1; Masquerade, 2 ; Britisher, 3. Twenty horses started, and after a splendid race Sting won in 2min. 36Jsec., being the fastest time on record. For the Club Handicap, Kingsworth came in first, Savionara, 2; Hypatia, 3.
