CANTERBURY CRICKET ASSOOIATION.

A meeting of the committee wan held on Wednesday night, at the City Hotel, Mr A. 0. Wilson in the chair. The first business taken in hand was the establishment of cup matches. A resolution was put to the meeting 11 That cup matches be forthwith established,” to which an amendment was proposed—“ That the matter of cup matches be referred to a general meeting of the association.” Both amendment and motion were lost, so that the matter remains as before. With regard to the proposed visit of the Hon. Ivo Bligh’s team, it was resolved that steps be taken tc ascertain from the Melbourne Club on what terms a match with the Canterbury cricketers could be arrange 3, and that the secretary communicate on the subject with the other associations in the colony. The committee then considered a proposal of the Dunedin and Suburban Cricket Association to play a match in Canterbury. The committee resolved—“ That the Dunedin and Suburban Cricket Association bo informed that the Canterbury Cricket Association cannot accept the offer made to them, os it is considered that it would militate against the interprovincial match,” On an offer of the Auckland orioketer* to play a one day’s match in Christchurch, the committee determined that the association cannot entertain a one day’s match, but that if a two or three days’ match could be arranged the finance and ground committee should bo empowered to make arrangements. After a little further business of a routine character had been gone through the meeting broke up. We believe that a requisition is in course of signatuie with a view of calling a general meeting of the association to decide finally about cup matches.
