THAMES, August 23. There were 401 b. of excellent specimens and 601 b. of picked stone, taken from the drive at the bottom of the shaft, 600 ft. below the surface, in the Queen of Beauty mine to-day, DUNEDIN, August 23. Mr Aitken Oonnell was proposed for liquidator at Messrs Guthrie and Letnaoh's meeting, but on the vote Mr Stronaoh was elected. The proceedings were lengthy but quiet. Mr Larnaoh made a long speech, A report of the proceedings is to be issued to the shareholders.
The Bev. Lindsay Maokie says that the Bev. Joseph Cook is uuable to visit New Zealand.
INVBBOABGILL, August 28. Mr W. P. Porter, one of the founders of the St. George's Lodge of Oddfellows, and who had held some high offices in the order, died last night. The Tramway Company have deoidsd to invite tenders for the extension of the present line, and the construction of a new one.
