Wbdnbbday, August 23. The House met at noon. QUESTIONS. The Wellington Cemetery Bill was read a second time on the motion of Mr LbVIN. Beplying to Mr Joyoe, The Hon. Mr Bollbston said the lease of the Auckland Isles wns determined three years ago, and Government did not propose re-leasing them. Beplying to Mr Brioken, The Hon. Mr Boli/zbton said in view of the resumption of immigration Government was favorably disposed to the establishment of a sjstem of labor registration, and would be glad to oonfer with members on the subject. Beplying to Mr Seddon, The Hon. Major Atkinson said the returns required by Government from the Friendly Societies and district lodges were the returns that every well constituted society ought to be provided with in its own interest. Government would not, therefore, be prepared to pay for theße returns. Beplying to Mr Seddon, The Hon. W. Johhston said inquiries would be made, and if a daily mail could be provided for Poitobollo on reasonable terms it would be done. IN 00MM1ITBB On the motion of Hon. W. Johnston, it was agreed that the House resolve into committee to consider the motion re direot steam communication with England. The Koads and Bridge! Construction Bill was introduced by message from the Acting Governor, and read a first time. The Native Eeserves Act Amendment Bill was further considered in committee.
