ELECTIONS.
THE WAKANUI BEAT. The polling in connection with the election of a representative for the Wakanui district took place yesterday, when great interest was manifested at the different polling places throughout the district. There was very little business done in the town of Asbbnrton, but the streets and road to the county saieyarde presented a busy appearance throughout the day. Tho election, however, up to the time of the polling closing was conducted in an orderly and quiet way. The special train from Christchurch to the Bakaia brought up a number of voters, an unusual amount of interest being taken in that part of the Wakanui electorate as to the probable result of the contest. In December last, at the general election, Mr Ivess polled 435 votes, being 10 less than his opponent, Mr Wason. EBANKLYN.
