INTERPROVINCIAL BICYCLE RACES.

The contestants in these events arsembb i. at noon in Ca'hedral square, where they were formed into precession by the marshal, Mr E. C. Farr, and shortly afterwards they started for Lancaster Park, passing along Woroaster street, by way of Oxford terrace into Armagh street, and thence along Colombo street, past the Bank of Now Z:sland corner into High street towards Lancaster Park, where they assembled on the lawn in front of tho pavilion, and, being grouped, were photographed by Mr Ohartoris. About thirty bicycles and four tricycles were on the ground. Tho gathering was under tho auspices of the Pioneer Bicyio Oiub, whoso anniversary falling on this day gave an additional interest to the meeting. ’ Messrs A. M. Odvior and L. B Hubbard were the judges. Tho first event was the

Maiden Race, one mile ; open to memhe-s if the Bicycle Club, who have never won a race. First prize, value JS 2 2s; second, £1 Is. Moantf irt 1 Duncm 2 Three competed. P. Pinckney storied with the lead, which was wrested from him shortly after by B. W. Mountfort, who kept increasing tho distance till the goal was reached, A. Duncan taking second place from Pinckney, and keeping the same with a few feet to spare to the end of the race. Time, 3min. 3lseo. Pioneer Bicycle Club Handicap; open to members of the club only. President's prize, and a second value -fil 10a. Parr (60 yds) 1 Dunsford (10 yds) ... ... 2 There were nine entri-’s received fur this event, of whom Dalton, who was to start at scratch, was foratohed. Pinckney led t ill the last lap, when Farr overhauled him opposite the pavilion, winning by about ten yards, Dunsford getting second placo by about one yard from Norris. Time, 3min 25.ee. One Mile Open Handicap; Ist prize. .£2 2a; 2nd, Is. R. W. Monntfort (140 yds) ... 1 K. Pinckney (200 yds) 2 Five started, viz., W. H. Outten (scratch), F. A. Cutten (20 yds), A. E. Preeoo (140.vda), R. W. Monntfort (140 yds), R. Pinckney (200 yds) Pinckney led past the pavilion, followed by Mountfort, Preece, W. H. and P. A. Outten, in the order named. Mountfort collared Pinckney in the thirl lap, and W. H. Outten passed Prosce. Eventually Monntfort was hailed tho winner by about twenty yards.
