A cablegram has been received to the effect that an agreement for the sale of the Patetere land has been completed in Loudon. Native Land Court. Two Native Land Courts opened at Rotorua yesterday, one under the presidency of. Mr Fenton, and the other under Major Mair. WELLINGTON, March 31. Singular Letter. The “ New Zealand Times ” publishes the following letter, received by an intending exhibitor at the Christchurch Exhibition : “ Dear sir,—Having heard from my brother, the secretory, that you are exhibiting pictures at the coming Exhibition, I beg to offer my services for acting os your ‘agent.’ My terms are—£3 sterling cash for hanging and lookirg after the same, and a commission of 10 per cent, for the sale of the same. Should your reply be favorable, I can assure you that every effort on my part will be used to ensure your success and the sale of your pictures. I enclose tickets, which you will please to fix on the case in order to ensure free delivery from Port Lyttelton to the Exhibition. I am, dear sir, yours faithfully. P. B.—l may add, that should my influence be strong enough to secure you a first-rate order of merit, viz,, a silver medal, my fee is £5 5s extra from all other charges.” NAPIER, March 31. Vital. The vital statistics for the Napier district are':—Births, 36; marriages, 6; deaths, 24. Of these latter, three were of suicide and one of a lunatic in gaol.
