CHRISTCHURCH CANARY, PIGEON, AND POULTRY ASSOCIATION.

A special meeting of the of the above association was held on Wednesday evening at Bashford's dining rooms, to consider the advisability of holding a show on May 25th in the grounds of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Mr T. Stapleton, sen., occupied the chair. Mr W. T. 0. Mills, the seoretary, stated he had seen Mr Murphy on the matter, who asked that a proposal be submitted in writing before the next meeting of the association on Saturday next. That gentleman thought half the shed could be placed at their disposal. This would necessitate the erection of a tent, and he thought as it would soon get dark that it would be better to hold the show in the Oddfellows' Hall.

Mr A. Walker thought the show should be held in June in the Oddfellows' Hall.

A member thought that the schedule should be altered, and the annual show held earlier than hitherto.

The Secretary pointed out that the business was special, viz, whether or not a show should be held on the same date as the show of the A. and P. Association.

Mr 0. Adkin thought there would be great difficulty in getting up a show in May. Mr A. Walker proposed, and Mr Balton seconded—" That no show be held on May 25th."

On being put to the meeting, the motion was declared to be carried, eixteea hands being held up in its favour. After a desultory discussion, Mr A. Walker proposed, and Mr Bolton seconded—"' That a special show be held in the Oddfellows' Hall, in June, independent of the annual show."

Mr O. Deal proposed, and Mr Evans seoonded an amendment—" That a special show be held in the Oddfellowß' Hall," on May 24th and 25th, and that the oommittee be requested to carry out same." On being put to the vote, the amendment was deolared carried by 12 to 3. The resolution was, therefore, lost. This was all the business.
